As part of the $95 million settlement in the longstanding AppleCare refurbished device class action lawsuit, payments will soon start going out to eligible customers.

  • What’s happening? Apple admitted it provided customers with refurbished replacement devices instead of brand-new hardware, violating the AppleCare terms. In 2021, the company agreed to a $95 settlement in this case. Eligible customers are now being informed of upcoming payments.
  • Why care? Apple may owe you money if you purchased AppleCare or AppleCare+ insurance for your iPhone or iPad after July 20, 2012, and received a refurbished device as a replacement instead of a new one.
  • What to do? Watch your inbox! If you’re eligible to receive a payment, you’ll receive an email message by August 30,2022, with a link to claim your payment electronically. The deadline for claiming payments is November 28, 2022.
