Galaxy Xcover 4 gets the February 2018 security patch update

Everyone’s going to be focusing on the Oreo update in the next couple of weeks, but it’s business as usual at Samsung as far as security patch updates are concerned. In line with its recent efforts to make budget and mid-range phones a priority for security updates, Samsung has rolled out an update with the February 2018 security patch to the Galaxy Xcover 4. The update has been released in Israel and comes with build number G390FXXU2ARA5.

If we don’t count Oreo for the Galaxy S8, the Xcover 4 is the first Samsung device to be updated with the latest security patch. The February 2018 patch fixes five critical vulnerabilities in the Android operating system, along with fixes for 16 possible exploits discovered in Samsung’s software. As usual, there are quite a few other vulnerabilities that have been patched, a list of which can be found on Samsung’s official website that documents security updates.

If you own a Galaxy Xcover 4, you can check if the update is available for your phone by going into the Settings » Software update menu. You can also use a PC to upgrade by downloading the full firmware from our database.
